Founders of Zephyr | Zephyr Wainui | Gisborne, NZ

Ellen, Tiago, Angus & Jacob founded Zephyr in October 2020.

They took over the Wainui Store, a classic NZ dairy. They spent many moons re-energising and putting love into the space with the help of their beautiful friends before opening the doors to Zephyr Wainui in December 2020.

The vision centered around friendly folk, here to enjoy the sunshine and good times, whilst creating positive change and impact in the local community. The vision for Zephyr is to create a space for growth, expression, and the opportunity to contribute to human and planetary health. The founders sold the shop in April 2025. The new owners have expanded from a plant based to a broader diet offering while focusing on ethics and caring for the planet. Zephyr sources wholesome, quality ingredients, local and organic where possible.
